Saint Paul’s/San Pablo’s is an inclusive, vibrant, loving and diverse church family. We will continue to practice and advocate our Christian faith and Episcopal traditions in service to each other and our Salinas Valley community.

FAITH -- GOALS
A spiritual community rich in opportunities focused on assuring a full understanding and appreciation of our shared Christian faith and Episcopal traditions.
Develop and implement a range of vibrant services and educational opportunities that reflect the diversity of our congregation and respond to the spiritual needs of all our members.
FAITH -- OBJECTIVES
a. Recruit parish members to serve on a worship committee and on an education committee.
b. Review our Education and Spiritual Formation ministries and ensure that opportunities are offered for age specific, intergenerational, multicultural, and all language groups represented in the congregation.
c. Develop and offer spiritual education opportunities focused on both fully understanding and actively practicing our Christian faith and Episcopal traditions.
d. Develop and offer scripture education opportunities to gain fuller understanding and appreciation of the meaning of the Bible.
e. Hold educational forums to assist parish members to grow in their faith and in manners that respect our diversity – culture, age, language, personal and common needs.
f. Provide liturgies that are inspiring and relevant.
g. Provide an environment that recognizes, accepts, and honors the individual as well as the larger community preferences for worship and expressions of faith.
h. Select a new rector committed to the goals, values, and objectives reflected throughout the Strategic Plan.
FAMILY – GOALS AND OBJECTIVES
GOAL
BECOME ONE FAMILY IN FAITH WITH APPRECIATION, RESPECT, AND SUPPORT OF OUR INDIVIDUAL CULTURAL, LANGUAGE, TRADITIONS, AND LIFE STYLE
OBJECTIVES
Organize regular opportunities for formal interaction among all members of the congregation with a focus on sharing cultural and worship traditions.
n Once each year a single Sunday service will be organized and celebrated in the tradition of each of our three (3) current Sunday celebrations – 8am, 10am, noon.
n The major celebrations of the Easter Vigil and the Bishop’s annual visit will incorporate elements of our current services traditions.
Organize regular opportunities for informal interaction among all members of the congregation with an opportunity for sharing cultural traditions.
n Two community focused and/or fundraising events, one emphasizing Anglo traditions and the other emphasizing Hispanic traditions
n Koinonia Dinners
n Organize three (3) yearly opportunities to achieve a greater knowledge and appreciation of our diverse cultures and traditions – perhaps Living Room Conversation or similar format
Organize appropriate personal and professional support network opportunities for all members of the congregation
n Families with young children / School age members / Single young adults
n Older members of the congregation / Homebound members
n Professions (e.g. musicians) / Language learning / Prayer Chain
GOAL
Develop an open atmosphere to encourage parish members to seek assistance when needed.

Survey the parish to find out what needs are being met and what are not.
Determine what changes are needed in parish structures and personnel to meet the needs

Develop strategies for congregational development, growth and incorporation (discipleship) that are inviting and welcoming to all.

Examine who we are and where we come from (congregational mapping)
Identify neighborhoods and populations we want to connect with and develop strategies to do so.
Establish a new member ministry team

With the support of the Diocese, identify a new Rector by late 2018

Recruit a diverse search committee to begin the process for searching for a new bilingual, bicultural priest.

Develop parish leadership with particular focus on cultural differences

Provide bilingual training opportunities for parish members
Develop volunteer opportunities to parish members to gain leadership skills
Work with the diocese to ensure we are taking full advantage of the services and opportunities they provide for our support

Foster generosity within the parish for gifts of time, talent, and treasure

Determine parish financial and volunteer needs to grow and strengthen the parish
Develop a plan on how to fiscally fund parish needs and support the maintenance of our facility through fundraising, stewardship, and the time and talents of parish members.

Evaluate the current outreach programs and services to determine the effectiveness of those services and to ensure the parish supports these programs

Most all our ministry in the community is hands on ministry relevant to people’s needs, what are the opportunities for us to become involved in partnership with others to bring about greater social justice change in our community?
